Renovations were happening in a very deep and high utility shaft within the building.  The electrical contractor was working off a supported scaffolding system within the shaft.  Below the scaffolding system was a 10 story freefall. OSHA standards required the contractor to have its workers tied off at all times.  The difficulty here was that the area of the shaft did not allow for conventional fall protection systems. Our team came in to test concrete fall protection anchors to see if their anchors would meet the requirements. The anchors tested were Werner Reusable Fall Protection Anchors (A51000) and Werner reusable 5 Concrete Anchor A510300.  The testing revealed that the fall protection anchors would not perform to the requirements needed.  With this information, Atlas Anchor designed a sandwich steel plate and threaded rod system with the shaft wall at each stage of the scaffolding.
