ASTM C1583-13:

Tensile Strength of Concrete Surfaces and the Bond Strength.

Testing Concrete Repair Strength.

ASTM C1583-13 is the standard test method for the tensile strength of concrete surfaces and the bond or tensile strength of the concrete repair and overlay materials by direction tension. It is also used to show the tensile strength of an existing concrete slab. This type of test is conducted on the surface of a prepared concrete slab before the installation of a concrete repair or overlay material. It can also be performed on the surface of a concrete repair after it has been installed on an existing concrete slab. Once testing is complete results will show if the concrete area tested meets the passing requirements needed.

400+ Tests Conducted Nationwide

At Atlas Anchor we have completed over 400 ASTM C1583-13 tests nationwide and have seen all types of failure modes. We are professionals in conducting this test and guarantee that fast results without having to go back and conduct re-testing. Re-testing is very common in this type of test because there is so much room for error when preparing the test specimens on site.

What is the scope of ASTM C1583-13?

  • The near-surface tensile strength of the substrate as an indicator of the adequacy of the surface preparation before application of a repair or overlay material.
  • The bond strength of a repair or an overlay material to the substrate.
  • The tensile strength of a repair or overlay material, or an adhesive used in repairs, after the material has been applied to a surface
