Description
We were hired by the finished ceiling contractor (known as a lathing company in NYC) to do pull testing on the anchoring system that they intended to use for their installation. The pull testing showed that the anchors that the contractor wanted to use would not work for the application. Since we always go to our projects prepared for failures, we were ready to provide and install an alternative anchoring solution right away that passed the pull testing. This is very important to our customers because they do not lose any time having to reschedule for another day of testing with a new type of anchor. The building was built in the late 1800’s and was built from hollow terracotta brick. This brick was a very common building material used in NYC construction at the turn of the century. Since buildings like these are considered “Landmark” buildings in NYC they are protected by the landmark preservation commission. Owners of these buildings have to renovate around the building’s limitations rather than demolishing and rebuilding.
