Description
We were hired by the general contractor to do rock anchor testing to 44 kips on sacrificial rock anchor dowels to Massachusetts Department of Transportation standards in accordance with recommendations for proof testing detailed in chapter 8 of the most recent edition of the “Recommendations for Prestressed Rock and Soil Anchors” published by The Post Tensioning Institute. The in-service rock anchor dowel’s purposes are to stabilize the existing rock face along Route 9. This type of type of very critical after installation because it will tell the client if the rock anchors were grouted correctly and can sustain their design loads for the lifetime of the anchors.
