Description
The Building was renovating a whole floor for a new tenant. They wanted to convert the existing roof deck to a roof balcony for the tenant to access. The complexity of this project was that the engineer wanted to utilize the existing guardrail brackets to install a new glass guardrail system. At first glance the existing guardrail brackets appeared to be structurally sound. We fabricated a custom stand to fit over the existing guardrail brackets to test them as a system. The testing revealed that the brackets could not support the requirements of the new guardrail system. With this information the engineer had to redesign a new glass guardrail system.
