Description

The owner hired us to do FM 1-52 uplift testing (“FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-52, Field Verification of Roof Wind Uplift Resistance”) on a newly installed above deck roofing assembly. The purpose of the testing is to determine if the roof system provides adequate wind resistance in the event of high wind events. This test is a lot more common in the Gulf Region of the USA but as storm strengths are increasing world-wide the owners engineering team wanted to ensure their roofing system can meet the demands needed of it under any circumstances. This test is also very similar to ASTM E907-04 – Standard Test Method for Field Testing Uplift of Adhered Membrane Roofing Systems. Although the FM 1-52 test method has a stricter criteria to pass.
